Essential Cleaning for Kitchen!

Essential Cleaning for Kitchen!

Maintaining a spick and span kitchen can sometimes be quite a burdensome task. But it is crucially important to have a hygienic kitchen to have a healthy lifestyle.

So to help you out, here are some of the best kitchen-cleaning hacks!

1. Cleaning the Refrigerator

  • Having an immaculate refrigerator is pivotal for having a healthy lifestyle.
  • At least once a week, empty the refrigerator (it would be more convenient for you to do this just before restocking).
  • clean the whole fridge, with the help of a cloth immersed in cool soapy water.

For the monthly clean;

  • Remove all the shelves and drawers of the fridge, and wipe them using a cool damp cloth.
  • Wipe down the interior of the fridge as well. You can use an old toothbrush to clean tough spots.
  • If your shelves are made of glass, let them warm up to room temperature and then wipe them with warm water. (so that there is no risk of shattering)
  • Dry everything using an old towel.
  • Wipe the exterior of the fridge as well and polish it using a microfiber cloth.
  • If your fridge has a freezer, clean it monthly using the same steps.

2. Cleaning the Hobs

It is crucial to have well-kept hobs for efficient cooking. To clean these:-

  • Remove all parts of the hobs (if there are any removable parts).
  • Put them in a sink filled with soapy water.
  • Now, use a damp cloth to remove any food or grime stuck on the hobs.
  • To remove the grease: spray some distilled vinegar onto the hobs and rub them with a cloth. To clean tougher spots, use a light scourer and cream cleaner.
  • Then rinse the parts of the hobs, that were in the sink and dry them (you can use a microfiber cloth for this).
  • Use an old toothbrush to clean around the gas burner.

3. Cleaning the Oven

It is very important to clean the oven regularly – every two weeks, as the dirt and grime that gets collected there, actually affects the taste of the food made in it.

To clean it, follow these steps:-

  • Make a paste of baking soda and water – 1 cup baking soda and 4-6 tablespoons of water (regulate the quantity according to your need).
  • Apply the paste around the inside of the oven. If you have a gas oven, don’t apply the paste to the area where the gas comes through. And if you have an electric oven, don’t apply the paste to the heating elements.

  • Take out the dirty racks from the oven, and place them in the sink. Sprinkle baking soda on these, and then pour some vinegar on top, so that foam is created.
  • When they stop foaming, plug the sink and run hot water into it until the racks are completely immersed.

Now leave the racks and oven like this overnight.

  • Then wipe everything clean using a damp cloth.
  • If the paste is tough to remove at any spot, spurt some vinegar there or you can use a gentle scourer.
  • Dry off everything.

We hope that these cleaning hacks would help you towards having a dapper kitchen!

Feng Shui” the Kitchen

“Feng Shui” the Kitchen!

Feng shui is an ancient art that is believed to be able to harmonize energy in order to bring good health and fortune. ‘Feng’ and ‘shui’ mean: ‘wind’ and ‘water’, respectively.

This concept is derived from an ancient poem that talks about connecting and living in flow with the environment around us.

The kitchen plays a central role in the well-being and health of all the members of the household. Here are a few ways to incorporate ‘feng shui’ in your kitchen.

1. Maintain Cleanliness

Ensure that the kitchen is regularly cleaned and well-stocked. The kitchen is a symbol of love and nourishment, therefore it is quite important to keep it organized and hygienic.

This can be a difficult task, but with consistent effort and hardwork, nothing is impossible! You can also look up cleaning hacks to make things easier.

2. Energised Colour Palettes

Soft-toned colour palettes can be a great way to give your kitchen a positive, fresh and happy vibe.

We would recommend the use of pastel, white and grey hues. This would make your kitchen emanate an aura of calmness that would make working in your kitchen all the more dream-like and therapeutic.

3. Glass Cabinets

These would make your kitchen space feel more open and sanguine. A feeling of clarity would ensue through the kitchen.

Glass cabinets would also help towards keeping the kitchen more organized.

4. Efficient Storage

Having a clutter-free environment is crucial for feeling peaceful and happy while working.

Organize your kitchen supplies and appliances systematically, so that cooking can be an efficient yet salubrious activity. A neat and clean environment would fill your kitchen with a positive aura.

Planning the Kitchen Menu!

In today’s modern world, time is something that is always running past us. People have incessantly busy every-day schedules, and most of us don’t have the time to ponder on the question of “what to make for dinner?”
But that my friend, is a grave mistake!
Having a healthy diet is a necessity for having a healthy lifestyle. After all, ‘you are what you eat’. Infact, maintaining a nutritious diet doesn’t always require a lot of time, all it takes is a few smart moves.

  1. Plan ahead
Devise a weekly menu of what you’re going to prepare on each day of the week. This would help you avoid turning to junk food as a last-minute resort and allow you to get all the ingredients in advance.
This would also make you more conscious about what and when you eat. This awareness is the first step towards consciously choosing a healthy lifestyle, for yourself and your family.
  2. Organize your fridge
Organize the items in your fridge into different sections, so that you can be aware of what is currently present in your fridge and what items need to be bought, with just a quick glance. Making this a regular practice would actually save you a lot of time.
  3. Shop Smart
Before going to the store to get your food supplies, make a list of all the items that you need. This would make the shopping process much more efficient. You would also save time, as that extra trip to the store because of forgetting to buy something, would be avoided.
  4. Choose the Best Option Available
When buying an item, take out the time to find out which of the options available is the healthiest choice.
  5. Get Creative
Think of new ways in which you can make your lifestyle healthier, and also save time and money. Only you know the intricacies of your own life, so only you can think up the perfect ‘shortcuts’ to make things easier and healthier for you.

It might be a little difficult to start off, but once you get into the habit of having a planned kitchen menu, the practice would save you time and help you feel much better both physically and mentally. It would help ensure that your family is eating right and has a healthy lifestyle. We hope that these tips would help you get there!
